Located on the edge of the Pun Hlaing Golf Course in Yangon, the client envisioned developing a boutique hotel nestled into the natural environment of the estate. The inspiration that guided the team throughout the duration of the project was rooted in the spirit of Myanmar. The open lobby and corridor were designed to take advantage of the climate. The views from the hotel were designed to fill the interior spaces with green from the verdant tropical landscape. And local materials were expressed in the application of native timber and laterite stone cladding.
The now completed 46-room hotel offers 5 luxurious room types, all with ample private outdoor space. The typical room is 63 m2, inclusive of balcony. The amenities include an all-day restaurant, cigar bar, meeting rooms, and shared access to the adja¬cent country club (which houses swimming pool, spa and gym facilities). Below grade, the building contains expansion space for the adjacent golf club and back of house service areas. At 6 stories, the 13,000 m2 (10,000 m2 above ground) building sits comfortably on an 8,900 m2 (2.2 acre) site with surface car parking on an adjacent site.
